I did these small flower studies all on the same piece of paper. The first thing I did was adhere the paper to a piece of 2mm Sintra PVC panel with some brushed on acrylic soft gel medium. I let that dry for about an hour under some heavy books. Next I split the page into quarters with blue painter’s tape.
I painted all four the same way. I started each by blocking in the major colors with tempera paint sticks. I then added detail using brush markers, and finally I added a few bits of white using white ink.
I discovered that I could lift colors with a damp paper towel to create lighter values. I could also blend in some white ink with a wet brush to lighten the values.
